Cosme - New York City

New York, quite possibly the food capital of the world, is host to every kind of cuisine from Armenian to Vietnamese and everything in between. So, it's no doubt, and with lots of pleasure, that I'd eventually be lucky enough to enjoy some great Mexican cooking. Located in the bustling Flatiron District, Cosme has received several honorable mentions since its opening in 2014. It's accolades include number 96 rank on The World's Best Restaurants 51-100 list and receives mentions from the Michelin guide inspectors. Update- ranks #40 on the 2017 list. As I walked into Cosme it was obvious that this was not your typical Mexican restaurant. Smooth concrete floors, exposed piping industrial ceilings, and a sleek matt wood bar. It's no doubt that this modern styling was created to reflect Chef Enrique Olvera contemporary cuisine. Although his cooking style is creative it is still embedded with Mexican traditions. I hope you enjoy my Dined There, Sipped That at Cosme.

El Ninja: Union Mezcal, Beefeater Gin, Cocchi Americano Vermouth, Shisho Shrub, Ginger, Lime

Egg Sope with Chorizo, Refried Black Beans, Queso Fresco

Ayocote Bean Salad, Radish, Charred cucumber vinaigrette

Short Ribs with Scallions, Cipollini and Avocado

 Duck Enmoladas with Red Mole

Chef Olvera was second to none in exploring this new wave of modern Mexican gastronomy and has inspired the next generation to also test boundries. With such a passionate and creative kitchen I have no doubt that Cosme will continue to make waves in Manhattan's Latin cuisine scene. For more information on Cosme visit www.CosmeNYC.com
